Dispatch system to merge Trucks and Trailers
A brand new Bluetooth sensor was released on July 20th which allows the truck drivers to virtually pair a tractor and trailer more efficiently. The ORBCOMM Tractor ID is the latest innovation in ORBCOMM’s smart truck solutions. The Tractor ID is installed on trucks and trailers and enables tractor-to-trailer pairing presumably improving driver and operational efficiency overall. The goal of this innovation is to bring the total tractor to trailer intelligence for enhanced visibility and safety experience to fleets, drivers, and their customers,” the release said. The sensor filters direct the drivers to the correct trailer detects the connection or disconnection of a trailer from the tractor by notifying the driver. ‘When the driver merges to a trailer a notification is sent through the integrated ORBCOMM platform to the customer’s dispatch system to validate that the proper trailer is attached. The actual Bluetooth sensor is designed with a durable battery which is expected to last around 7 years without an additional power source. This sensor is a significant enhancement to our smart truck solution, which combines advanced telematics, analytics, and connectivity to create a complete smart truck solution that offers optimal insight into the fleet’s entire operations’ said Gregg Plonisch, ORBCOMM’s Vice President of Product Management.
